Results of our Women's Health Pledge Drive

In the name of Allah, compassionate & merciful بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيمِ
Peace be with you السلام عليكم

Beginning in May we had a Health Pledge Drive as part of women's health month for our second drive.  We had 8 pledges via our site and 21 via facebook for a at total of 29 people participating in our Women's Health Drive! Alhamdulillah. Sometimes in our busy schedules we forget that preventive medicine is far more affective than reactive medicine.  Being an independent woman and shepherd of our flocks means that we need to empower ourselves by taking care of our health. Your body is an amanah from Allah swt and you need to respect it and take care of it.  Alhamdulillah this is one of our first COMPLETE drives! May there be many, many more inshaAllah.

Ibn Abbas (ra) said: The Prophet (salalahu alahi wa salam) was giving an exhortation or advice to a man, so he said to him “Take benefit from five before five: your LIFE before your death, your HEALTH before your illness, your spare time before you get busy, your youth before your old age and your wealth before your times of poverty.” (Haakim 4/306)
It has been narrated on the authority of Ibn 'Umar that the Holy Prophet (May be upon him) said: Beware. every one of you is a shepherd and every one is answerable with regard to his flock. The Caliph is a shepherd over the people and shall be questioned about his subjects (as to how he conducted their affairs). A man is a guardian over the members of his family and shal be questioned about them (as to how he looked after their physical and moral well-being). A woman is a guardian over the household of her husband and his children and shall be questioned about them (as to how she managed the household and brought up the children). A slave is a guardian over the property of his master and shall be questioned about it (as to how he safeguarded his trust). Beware, every one of you is a guardian and every one of you shall be questioned with regard to his trust. Muslim 4496
