DOMESTIC VIOLENCE: SEEKING SOLUTIONS

There is no doubt that Domestic Violence has crept into Islamic households. It has corrupted the pure, beautiful religion with its evil. The only difference now is that various ignorant ideas are being used to portray Islam as a religion that supports violence in the family. This event aims to raise awareness and funds for Domestic Violence. We hope to initiate a reform in society by educating ourselves and our society.

Join Sr Malika Rushdan of ICNA Relief, Ustadh Shakiel Humayun of Foundation for Knowledge & Development and Imam Siraj Wahhaj of Masjid Taqwa & MANA for an evening that will change the way you look at society, inshaAllah.

CALL TO ACTION!

As Salaamu Aalaykum!

I have a new project and need your help.  After dealing with a recent friend that we had to remove from an abusive marriage, we realized that there aren't many resources for Muslimahs.  Resources for non-profits who help abused women is even scarcer.  That is why a group of us decided to follow in the steps of HalfDate and start our own sadaqah promotion site featuring projects that benefit organizations that cater to Muslimahs and their children.

There is more than one way to cash in on good deeds and the rewards of sadaqah.  You can forward this email to other sisters who can donate or spread the word.  Your act itself is a Sadaqa, in-sha-Allah, cuz any of your friends who donate for the site in the future drives is counted under you!

Our current drive is for Baitul Salaam Network a 12 year old domestic violence awareness organization based in Atlanta, GA.
  • They have assisted more than 600 women and children who were temporarily homeless due to some form of abuse (physical, emotional and/or economic)
  • They get more than 9,000+ calls for assistance yearly from their community
  • They need $3,400 by April 22 of which we hope to raise $500.

So are you in?  If we don't support these organizations, who will? will they be there if our daughters, grand-daughters, sisters or mothers need them?
It is up to us so act NOW!
